Jaipur/IBNS: The Rajasthan government has suspended mobile internet connection and SMS service in five districts for 12 hours today in order to prevent cheating in the highly competitive Rajasthan Eligibility Examination for Teachers or REET, according to media reports.

As many as 16 lakh candidates will attempt the test for 31,000 posts in government schools, according to an NDTV report.

The district collectors of Ajmer, Dausa, Alwar, Jaipur and Jhunjhunu - the five areas where internet connectivity will be affected - will decide whether to extend or shorten the blackout period, report stated.

The administrations in other districts have been given a free hand to snap mobile internet if required.

Elaborate arrangements have been made for travel and security as a large number of candidates are going to appear in the exam.

The report said that huge crowds of candidates were seen at bus stands in all 33 districts of Rajasthan as they travelled to the areas where their exam centres are located.

The test is being conducted by the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education, Ajmer at 3,993 exam centres.

"All preparations for the exam have been completed and we will ensure there is no use of unfair means," the board's chairman DP Jaroli said, reported news agency PTI.
