Rajya Sabha adjourned after paying tribute to Madan Lal Saini
New Delhi, June 25 (UNI): Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 2 pm on Tuesday after paying tributes to its member and Rajasthan BJP Chief Madan Lal Saini, who died on Monday at AIIMS here. He was 75.
When the Upper House assembled for Zero Hour at 11 am, Chairman Venkaiah Naidu informed the members about the BJP leader's death due to lung infection. He was admitted to AIIMS on June 22. The body was taken to his ancestral village in Rajasthan Monday night.
Born on July 13, 1943 Late Saini was a former MLA from Udaipurwati constituency from Rajasthan. He was appointed BJP state president last year.
Also associated with RSS, he held various posts in the Bhartiya Kisan Morcha.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other BJP leaders have condoled the demise of Late Saini.
"The passing away of Shri Madanlal Saini Ji is a major loss for the BJP family. He contributed to strengthening the party in Rajasthan. He was widely respected for his congenial nature and community service efforts. My thoughts are with his family and supporters. Om Shanti," Modi tweeted.
President Ram Nath Kovind in a tweet said, "Sad to hear of the demise of Shri Madan Lal Saini, MP (RS). A veteran in public life, he remained committed to serving those at the grassroots. Condolences to his family and well-wishers."
Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said he was "shocked" by the sudden demise of Madan Lal Sainiji".
"He was a dedicated BJP worker and was known for his simplicity and direct connect with people. He was also active in labour movement for a long time. Heartfelt condolences to his family. Om Shanti," Mr Javadekar wrote in the micro blogging site.
BJP working president J P Nadda in his missive said Saini's death will bring in immense loss to the BJP family.
