Ram Nath Kovind quits as Governor of Bihar

Patna, June 20 (IBNS): NDA's presidential candidate Ram Nath Kovind has resigned as the Governor of Bihar.

President Pranab Mukherjee has accepted his resignation.

"The President has accepted the resignation of Shri Ram Nath Kovind, as Governor of Bihar," read an official statement.

West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi will be discharging the functions of the Governor of Bihar, in addition to his own duties.

"The President of India is pleased to appoint Shri Keshari Nath Tripathi, Governor of West Bengal to discharge the functions of the Governor of Bihar, in addition to his own duties, until regular arrangements for the office of the Governor of Bihar is made," read the statement.

The NDA on Monday announced the name of Dalit leader Kovind as its candidate for the upcoming Presidential election.
