Ransomware plagues JNPT, cripples operation

Mumbai, Jun 28 (IBNS): A ransomware attack retarded operations at one of the three terminals of Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), India's largest container port, on Tuesday night, reports said.

"We have been informed that the operations at GTI have come to a standstill because their systems are down (due to the malware attack). They are trying to work manually," a senior official was quoted as saying by PTI news agency.

AP Moller-Maersk, who operates the Gateway Terminals India (GTI), is one of the many companies who took a hit globally.

JNPT officials acknowledged that though they are doing their best to help the company, there is very little they can do.

The attacks come weeks after global ransomware WannaCry plagued systems across the world.

Later, a Moscow-based cyber security firm traced the hacker's id to a code developed by the National Security Agency of the United States.
