Renowned Assamese writer Mahim Bora passes away

Guwahati, Aug 5 (IBNS) : Renowned Assamese writer Mahim Bora passed away at a private hospital in Guwahati on Friday morning. He was 93.

Bora, a Sahitya Akademy awardee,  was admitted at GNRC hospital in the city on August 3 for  cardiac problems.

He was a former President of Asom Sahitya Sabha.

Born in 1924, Bora had authored Rangajivya (The Red Dragon Fly), Adhani Mahir Hahi , Bohubhuji Tribhu, Eai Nadir Sonte  and  Kathonibarir Ghat, among other books of short stories and poems.

He was awarded Padma Shri in 2011.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal paid rich tributes to the departed writer, saying it is a big lost for the state.
