SC sends notice to Lalu's son Tej Pratap, asks to explain photograph with alleged shooter

New Delhi, Sept 23 (IBNS) : The Supreme Court has sent a notice to Bihar Health Minister and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad's son, Tej Pratap to explain how was he photographed together with an alleged shooter wanted in the murder of a journalist in the state, according to media reports.

The top court sent a separate notice also to Mohammad Shahabuddin, a former RJD lawmaker, who is also seen in the photo.

The journalist Rajdeo Ranjan's wife moved the Supreme Court, seeking that the trial in her husband's murder case be shifted to Delhi as she fears for her family's life.

The Supreme Court ordered the police in Bihar's Siwan, where Ranjan's wife lives, to provide protection to the journalist's family.

The court also  sought a status report from the CBI, which was asked to probe the case earlier this month.

Mohammad Kaif, the alleged shooter, surrendered to the Bihar police this week.

Tej Pratap has brushed aside the allegations of his links with Mohammad Kaif, saying it is a "BJP conspiracy."
