"The case which was going on for decades has concluded finally," he said. "Following the Supreme Court verdict, the way every section of society, of every religion, has welcomed it is a proof of India's ancient culture and tradition of social harmony," he said.

Referring to the significance of the fall of the Berlin Wall on Nov 9 three decades ago, Modi said: "Today is the day of joining and connecting with all."

"Nov 9 is a significant date- it was when the Berlin Wall had collapsed 30 years ago and it is today we have opened the Kartarpur corridor with cooperation of both India and Pakistan. The date gives a message to us to unite and to live together," he said thanking Indians and holding that one should wait for the judiciary to pass verdicts even if it can come late.

He also referred to the issue of the inauguration of Kartarpur corridor and cooperation received from Pakistan for the same on the same day.

In his national address, Modi further hailed the apex court's verdict and said: "The Supreme Court verdict gave the message to the country that decision on tough issues fall in the parameters of the constitution and law of the nation. We should learn that patience is the biggest virtue and we need to follow it."

"We are seeing a new dawn today following the Supreme Court verdict," he said.

He said youth of the country should now work to make a new India.

"Let's start together. We need to take all in our path of reaching success," he urged people of India.

"India has many more challenges and targets in front and all of us can work together to touch them," he said.

In a historic judgement to a politically-sensitive Ayodhya case which has been raging for almost 70 years, the Supreme Court on Saturday paved way for the construction of Ram Temple in the disputed 2.77 acres of land in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya dismissing the Sunni Waqf Board's claim to the land. The apex court also directed that a mosque be built over 5 acres in a prominent location.

Amid a tightened security across the nation and particularly in Uttar Pradesh, a five-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi asked the Indian government to set up a trust within three months to decide on the disputed Ayodhya land for the Hindus to build a temple, while they asked for a five-acre land for the Muslims to construct a mosque in a prominent alternative location.

Inner and outer land should be given to the trust, the court said in the 70-year-old legal dispute. In a unanimous judgement, the Sunni Waqf Board was given 5 acres of alternate land.

The disputed land now goes effectively in possession of the Indian government.
