Security forces seize contraband drugs worth Rs 8 crore in Manipur along Indo-Myanmar border
Guwahati, Feb 26 (IBNS): Security forces recovered huge quantity of contraband drugs worth around Rs 8 crore in Manipur’s Moreh town along the India-Myanmar border on Tuesday.
According to the reports, based on intelligence input about some contraband drugs being transported from Myanmar to Moreh during wee hours, a combined team of 43 Assam Rifles and Moreh police conducted the operation at a house of Moreh Ward No 2.
During the search operation, the security personnel recovered huge quantity of illegal drugs worth Rs 23.40 lakh and more than 1.9 lakh Myanmar currency cash from a person named Jilkhongam Lhungdim.
Security personnel also recovered 198 polythene packets containing brown sugar weighing 2.376 kg and 11 small polythene packets and 3 large packets weighing 244 grams containing heroine powder.
Security forces seized illegal contraband drugs worth Rs 75 crore in 2018.
In first two months of this year, Assam Rifles has seized contraband drugs worth over Rs 50 crore along the Indo-Myanmar border.
