Shatrughan Sinha expected to join Congress, could contest from Patna Sahib

New Delhi, Mar 26 (UNI): BJP rebel Shatrughan Sinha is all set to join Congress party this week, sources in the Congress Party said here on Tuesday.

The film star-turned-politician has been elected twice from Patna Sahib parliamentary constituency as a BJP candidate but this time, he was denied the party’s nomination. The BJP has fielded law and IT minister Ravi Shankar Prasad from the Lok Sabha seat.

Sources said that after denial of the ticket to Sinha, he is likely to join the Congress on March 28 or 29.

Sources said that Sinha was expected to be fielded by the Congress from the Patna Sahib seat against Ravi Shankar Prasad.

Popularly known as ‘Shotgun’ in Bollywood, he has been associated with BJP for over three decades and was minister of state in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government.

Sinha has been openly critical of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah.

On Tuesday, appreciating the Congress party’s poll promise of “Minimum Income Guarantee scheme”, Sinha said “it was a masterstroke by the Congress president Rahul Gandhi”.
