New Delhi, Jul 14 (UNI/IBNS) Delhi MLA and Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) leader Maninder Singh Sirsa on Sunday flayed Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu for deciding to tender resignation as Punjab Minister coinciding with Kartarpur talks.

"Aaj ka din hee kyon chuna (Why he had to resign only)....he wants to deviate people's attention from Kartarpur talks," Sirsa said in a video message on Twitter.

"Today is not working day; but a holiday," said the Akali Dal leader.

"His resignation timing is anti-India just like his hug to General Bajwa was," wrote Sirsa, who represents Rajouri Garden assembly seat in Delhi legislature.

Navjot Singh Sidhu on Sunday informed that he resigned from the state cabinet.

The cricketer-turned-politician, who did not take charge of his ministry following the Cabinet reshuffle, tweeted his resignation letter on Sunday.

He had earlier submitted his resignation letter dated June 10 to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

"I hereby resign as Minister from the Punjab Cabinet," the 55-year-old leader wrote in the letter.

In another tweet, he wrote: "Will be sending my resignation to the Chief Minister, Punjab."

Last month, he had tweeted pictures with Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi after a meeting them in Delhi.

"Met the Congress President, handed him my letter, appraised him of the situation," he wrote.

On June 6, Sidhu was stripped of a major portfolio in the state. He lost the Local Government portfolio and was instead entrusted with the charge of Power and Energy Sources.
