Skill is the key to jobs: Industry at JIS event
A proper blend of knowledge and skill are required for those seeking to enter the corporate world, was the message at JIS Group Educational Initiatives’s “Corporate Pulse” programme held in association with BCCI.
The programme, held at Narula Institute of Technology, focused on HR experts giving students tips on brushing up their employability skills and sharing their perspectives on job-readiness.
The programme was moderated by Mridul Pathak; the corporates present were: Rajesh Jain - Head (Corporate HR, Srei Infrastructure Finance Limited); Rahul Bose - Learning and Development Leader, IBM India Limited; P K Sahu - Senior General Manager - HR & IR, Tata Steel Processing And Distribution Limited; and Debmalya Banerjee- Eastern Regional Director, Assocham.
While students fret about not landing jobs of their choice and whether they will get the right salary package, the programme also focused on how HR professionals go to any lengths to pick the right candidate for the job. Skill quotient is the order of the day, and P K Sahu told students to “constantly be able to learn new things, every day of your lives, and to reinvent and re-learn”.
