Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case: All accused acquitted

New Delhi, Dec 21 (IBNS): A special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court on Friday acquitted all 22 people who were accused in the case pertains to the fake encounter of gangster Sohrabuddin Sheikh and his aide Tulsiram Prajapati, media reports said.

Twenty-two people, most of them were officers from Gujarat and Rajasthan, have been acquitted owing to unsubstantial evidences.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which probed the case, had earlier said Sheikh was murdered for political and financial gains.

In such a politically-sensitive case, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Amit Shah was also an accused.

However, of the 38 people who were charged, 16 of them including Shah were earlier acquitted.
