Somnath Bharati shows up in Delhi police station after midnight
New Delhi, Sept 16 (IBNS) AAP legislator and former Delhi Law Minister Somnath Bharti on Wednesday "surrendered" or "showed up" at a police station joining the probe into allegations of domestic violence brought against him by his wife Lipika Mitra.
He was accused of evading arrest but he said he went to the police station on his own.
He went to the police station in southwest Delhi with his labrador dog Don, said reports.
The Delhi High Court has said Bharti cannot be arrested at least till Sept 17 while Bharti had approached the High Court for anticipatory bail on Tuesday,
A Delhi Court on Monday had rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Bharti.
An FIR was filed against Bharti last week for attempted murder, causing injury and breach of trust.
His wife Lipika had filed a complaint of domestic violence with the Delhi Commission for Women on June 10 alleging that her husband had been abusing her ever since their marriage in 2010. She had also given a complaint to police in this regard.
Bharti said the BJP led by Modi is unhappy with the rise of AAP and since they consider it as their major political threat instead of Congress, he was being hounded.
