Sonia Gandhi chairs meeting with Congress leaders

New Delhi, Sept 12 (UNI): Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi on Thursday met the AICC General Secretary In charges of the states, PCC presidents and CLP leaders at the AICC headquarters here to discuss current political situation and assess preparation for upcoming Assembly polls in four states.

Former prime minister Manmohan Singh, senior Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad, KC Venugopal and A K Antony shared the dais with Ms Gandhi at the meeting.

General secretary of the AICC in charge of Eastern UP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Jyotiraditya Scindia were also present. The meeting is being attended by party's chief ministers of the states, including Captain Amarinder Singh, Ashok Gehlot and other senior leaders.

Sources said that the meeting is expected to discuss the preparations for the coming Assembly polls in four states, including Haryana, Maharashtra and Jharkhand.

The party is gearing up for the Assembly polls, having set up various election committees for Haryana recently.

Current political situation in the country and the present state of the economy are also likely to figure in the meeting.
