Kolkata/IBNS: Months before the West Bengal Assembly polls, the BJP has taken former Kolkata Mayor, Sovan Chatterjee, back to active politics by appointing him as the observer of the party's Kolkata zone.

The party on Sunday announced its fresh organizational appointments where BJP leader Baisakhi Banerjee was appointed as a co-convener of the same zone.

Meanwhile, another TMC-turned-BJP leader, Sankudeb Panda, has been named as another Co-convener of the Kolkata zone.

Since joining the BJP in August last year, former Bengal minister Sovan Chatterjee has been keeping himself away from the active politics.
