Srinagar/IBNS: Three people including a prominent chemist, who is also a Kashmiri Pandit, were killed in three different terrorist attacks in a span of one hour in Srinagar on Tuesday, police said.

Makhan Lal Bindroo, the owner of the famous Bindroo Medicates in Srinagar, was shot dead here by unidentified terrorists on Tuesday, a police official said.

He said the gunmen fired at Bindroo inside his pharmacy near Iqbal Park in Srinagar.

Bindroo was critically injured in the attack and was rushed to SHMS hospital where he succumbed.

Police said the gunmen managed to escape during the chaos created due to the firing.

“Security forces have been rushed to the area and a search operation has been launched to nab the attackers,” police said.

Condemning the incident, former chief minister and NC vice president Omar Abdullah said that Bindroo never left Kashmir even during the height of militancy and kept his shop open.

“What terrible news! He was a very kind man. I’ve been told he never left during the height of militancy and remained with his shop open. I condemn this killing in the strongest possible terms & convey my heartfelt condolences to his family. God bless his soul,” Abdullah wrote on micro-blogging site Twitter.

Soon after the incident, terrorists struck at Lal Bazar in downtown Srinagar and killed a street food vendor, identified as Virender Paswan, by the police.

The victim was a resident of Bhagalpur in Bihar,. He was living in Srinagar's Zadibal area, the police said.

In a third terror attack within an hour, another civilian was shot dead by terrorists in Bandipora.

The man has been identified as Mohammad Shafi, the president of a taxi stand in the area.

All the three attack sites have been cordoned off and the security forces are conducting search operations to nab the terrorists.
