New Delhi/IBNS: Ahead of the "Janata Curfew" which will be effective on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged people to refrain from travelling.

In a couple of tweets, Modi said, "Lots of my brothers and sisters are leaving cities where they work and travelling to their villages out of Coronavirus scare. The chances of spreading of the virus enhances with travelling in a crowd. Your travel will be a threat to the people of the villages where you are travelling to. Your village and family will be in more trouble."

"I pray to you that you be in the city where you are now for few days. This will help us to stop the spread of the virus..... Please think about yourself and your family. Do not travel if there is no urgency," tweeted the Prime Minister.

Prime Minister Modi on Thursday urged all people to remain indoors as "Janata Curfew" will be in place from 7 am to 9 pm on Sunday.

"Janata Curfew" will be effective in the wake of the soaring number of positive Coronavirus cases across the country.

As per the last update, 283 people including the cured and deceased have been infected with the deadly virus.

Maharashtra has recorded the maximum number of cases (63) followed by Kerala (40) and Delhi (26).

Meanwhile, no international commercial flights will be allowed to land in India for a week beginning on Sunday.

Already several cities have been locked down as the country is on edge amid the Coronavirus scare.
