Support Kejriwal : Shanti Bhushan asks Prashant, Yogendra

New Delhi, Mar 3(IBNS) In a dramatic turn of events, Aam Aadmi Party patriarch Shanti Bhushan on Tuesday asked Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav to support Arvind Kejriwal.

In a letter written to party's national executive, the veteran leader  said there should not be any rift in the party.

"Party's win in Delhi election shows clean politics is accepted by all. AAP must spread clean politics to all parts of the country," TV channels quoted him saying in the letter.

The development came in the day his son, Prasant Bhushan, alleged that the party was drifting away from its principles and ideals and tended to become a one-man force.

Speaking out for the first time in public on the current tussle within the party, Bhushan  admitted to NDTV that there has been a "breakdown of communication" between him and Arvind Kejriwal and  the issues that make the difference are on the basic ideas and principles on which the party was founded.

"I feel we have to be absolutely firm on our ethical principles but Arvind differs at times and says we need to make certain compromises," he said.

Prashant Bhushan's father had also been critical about the goings-in in the AAP.

A section of the Kejriwal loyalists had accused Prashant Bhushan and Yadav with conspiring to unseat Kejriwal.

The party is scheduled to sit for its executive meeting on Wednesday to address the internal issues. Speculations are doing rounds that the party may take tough action against Prashant Bhushan and Yadav.

Earlier in the day, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal said he was "hurt and pained" by what was going on within the outfit.

"I refuse to be drawn in this ugly battle. Will concentrate only on Delhi's governance," tweeted Kejriwal adding that he would not allow the people's faith in them to be undermined," he tweeted.

"I am deeply hurt and pained by what is going on in the party. This is betrayal of trust that Delhi posed in us," he said.
