Supreme Court slaps notice on Lalu Prasad to revive Scam case

| | Aug 17, 2015, at 10:00 pm
New Delhi, Aug 17 (IBNS) The Supreme Court has issued a notice to RJD chief Lalu Prasad, asking why the corruption charges against him, dropped by the Jharkhand High Court cannot be revived.

The notice came after the Central Bureau of Investigation moved the apex court challenging the high court order that dropped some charges against the former Bihar Chief Minister in November 2014.

Lalu Prasad had been charged in several cases related to fictitious medicines and fodder scam involving Rs. 900-crore.

In October 2013, Lalu Prasad was convicted in one of the cases on charges of embezzling Rs.37 crore. But he received bail in November 2014 from the Supreme Court.

He was  banned from contesting elections due to his conviction.
