Supreme court to hear Rahul's petition on defamation case against him

| | May 07, 2015, at 04:41 pm
New Delhi, May 7 (IBNS) Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi has moved the Supreme Court seeking a stay on the Bombay High Court order dismissing his plea for quashing a defamation case against him.

The law suit was filed  for allegedly blaming the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) for the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi at an election rally in 2014.

The petition, which is listed for hearing on Thursday before the bench headed by Justice Dipak Mishra, has challenged the constitutional validity of the penal provisions dealing with defamation.

Gandhi's plea seeking to quash the complaint was rejected by the Bombay High Court on March 10.
