Sushant Singh Rajput death case: Narcotics Control Bureau officials raid Rhea Chakraborty's residence

Mumbai: Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officials on Friday raided the residence of Bollywood actress Rhea Chakraborty here.

The officials carried out the search in the actor's residence days after the agency began investigating the drugs angle into the Sushant Singh Rajput death case.

The NCB has drawn links between Rhea Chakraborty's brother, Showik, and alleged drug dealer Zaid Vilatra, who has been arrested, reports NDTV.

Another NCB team also carried out a search in the residence of Rajput's aide Samuel Miranda.

Sources in the agency had earlier told NDTV that 20-year-old Vilatra allegedly supplied cannabis to Showik Chakraborty and Mr Rajput's house manager Samuel Miranda, who were introduced to each by another middleman Abdel Basit Parihar, 23.

"The searches are being conducted under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985," officials told the news channel.

Rhea, however, recently said she never consumed drugs.

Sushant Singh Rajput, who worked in movies like Kedarnath and Raabta, was found dead in his Mumbai residence in June.

The Bombay High Court on Thursday urged the media to exercise restraint in reporting the probe into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

"We expect and urge the media to exercise restraint in reporting the investigation with respect to the case which would not hamper investigation in any manner," the court said.

The high court said this while hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) which was filed by eight former police officers of Maharashtra, seeking a stay in the alleged media trial in the death case of the actor.

The death case is being probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the federal probe agency of India.

Though the Mumbai Police were probing into the death case, Sushant's father KK Singh had filed a First Information Report (FIR) with the Bihar Police alleging that his late son's girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty had siphoned Rs. 15 crore from the actor.
