SUV hits Express train in UP, none injured

Shahjahanpur, Apr 28 (UNI): A major rail mishap was averted here on late Saturday night when an SUV collided with an express train near Shahjahanpur railway station.

GRP sources here on Sunday said that the Varanasi-Dehradun express train was going towards Bareilly, when a SUV parked near the rail track at the roadways railway crossing, after hitting the engine of the train, got struck with the fourth bogie at around 0100 hrs.

The train suddenly stopped avoiding a major accident.

There was no one in the SUV nor any passenger of the train was injured in the incident.

The SUV was detached from the bogie after one hour of hard work by police with the help of local people.

Police said an FIR has been registered against the owner of the SUV while a probe has been ordered.
