New Delhi, Aug 27 (IBNS): The husband of national-level champion shooter Tara Shahdeo was arrested near Delhi after she accused him of deceiving her into marriage with a false religious identity, reports said.

Shahdeo alleged that her 30-year-old husband, whom she knew as Ranjeet Singh Kohli during the time of their marriage in July this year in her home state of Jharkhand, and her in-laws had forced her to convert into Islam. They also kept her captive for a month and warned not to share her experience with anybody.

23-year-old Shahdeo won gold medal in the 2009 Eastern Zone championship.

She claimed that during the month of Ramadan, invitation cards to Iftar parties addressed her husband as Rakibul Hussain, report said.

However, Shahdeo’s husband in an email claimed that he is a Hindu rubbishing all allegations made by her wife.
