Hyderabad: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is considering fielding its prominent leaders against Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) chief K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and his family members in the upcoming Telangana Assembly election, reported India Today TV.

The BJP aims to alter the public perception of having an implicit understanding with the BRS and reshape its narrative, the report said citing sources.

Plans suggest that MP Arvind Dharmapuri may be fielded against Chief Minister KCR in the crucial Kamareddy constituency, while BJP MLA Etela Rajendra is being considered as a candidate against KCR in the Gajwel constituency, according to the report.

It's anticipated that KCR will contest from both Kamareddy and Gajwel.

State BJP chief Bandi Sanjay may be pitted against Telangana minister and KCR’s son, KT Rama Rao (KTR), in the Sircilla constituency, it said.

The BJP is also eyeing support from backward communities by nominating candidates from these groups.

The Telangana election is slated to occur in or before December 2023, where all 119 members of the state's Legislative Assembly will be elected.
