Thane, May 15 (UNI) Three directors of a Mumbai-based surgical company have been booked for allegedly cheating an insurance company and a bank in this district of Maharashtra.

According to a complaint filed by the New India Assurance Company, it made a payment of Rs 34,11,205/- to the company (surgical company) through the Axis Bank on July 31,2018.

Due to oversight, the same amount was again credited on August 7 into the account of the surgical company.

Instead of returning the amount, the directors utilised the same for its benefit, the complaint stated.

Based on the complaint, the surgical firms' directors -- Mustanshir Gandhi, Hussain Gandhi and Asghar Gandhi -- were booked on Tuesday, police said.

A case was registered against the accused under Indian Penal Code Sections 420 (cheating) and 406 (criminal breach of trust), police added.
