Three suspected guerrillas killed in Kashmir encounter
Srinagar, Feb 4 (IBNS): Three suspected guerrillas, believed to be Pakistani nationals, have been killed in a day long firefight with security forces in Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir about 35 kms from here.
Earlier on Thursday, police and army laid siege in Hajin about the presence of some foreign guerrillas, ensuing a fierce gun battle.
As the searches were underway, the militant hiding in a residential opened fire at them with automatic weapons triggering a gunbattle, which left three militants dead while a residential house has also been damaged severely.
Senior Police officer said, during gunfight three rifles and one Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL) has been recovered from them.
He also said that no army official has been killed or injured in the operation.
The encounter comes just week after three guerrillas of Lashkar-e-Toiba were killed in an encounter with security forces in the neighboring district of Kupwara in north Kashmir.
