Three youths arrested for raping a minor girl in Assam’s Karimganj

Guwahati: Police of Assam’s Karimganj district arrested three persons on charges of alleged abduction and gangrape of a minor girl in the bordering district Indo-Bangladesh border.

According to police, the victim girl, who is hailing from the area under Nilambazar police station, on Saturday midnight had lodged a complaint at Nilambazar and stated that four youths abducted her later gangraped her.

Following the complaint, police registered a case at Nilambazar police station (number 130/2022) and on Sunday arrested three accused youths.

The arrested youths were identified as Rahimuddin, Nasiruddin and Suleman Ali.

Dipjyoti Malakar, Sub-Inspector of Nilambazar police station said the complaint stated four youths of Dalgram had allegedly abducted the girl and gangraped her.

“After receiving the complaint we started investigation and arrested three of four accused youths including the main culprit. Our operation is going on to nab another accused person. Our investigation is on,” Dipjyoti Malakar said.
