“Chor, Jai Shri Ram!” — TMC MP Mahua Moitra alleges harassment on IndiGo flight, moves DGCA

New Delhi: Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha MP Mahua Moitra on Thursday alleged that she was harassed by a group of men aboard an IndiGo flight while travelling to Delhi for a meeting of the parliamentary standing committee on defence.

In a series of posts on X, Moitra said the incident took place on IndiGo flight 6E 719, where she was seated in the front row of the aircraft.

“Chor chor, TMC chor, pishi chor, bhaipo chor,” slogans directed at Mamata Banerjee and her nephew Abhishek Banerjee, while passengers were preparing to disembark, according to the video.

The TMC leader alleged that a group of men shouted political slogans, raised “Jai Shri Ram” chants and recorded videos inside the cabin after the flight landed.

“‘This is no citizen anger. This is harassment and violates my safety in an aircraft,’” Moitra wrote, while urging the airline to identify those involved and place them on a no-fly list.

In another post, Moitra alleged the incident reflected “BJP culture” and said she initially ignored the episode before later deciding to lodge a complaint after videos of the confrontation began circulating online.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation and IndiGo had not issued an official statement on the matter at the time of publication.

The incident comes amid Bharatiya Janata Party securing a decisive victory with 207 seats in the 293-member Assembly, comfortably crossing the majority mark.
