Top NDFB(S) leader killed in Assam encounter
BTAD IGP LR Bisnoi said that, following a tip-off, a police team led by Kokrajhar district SP and Additional SP launched operation at Thersobil Chautara village under Gossaigaon police station on Friday evening.
"When our boys reached the remote area hiding militants fired and forced us to exchange bullets, in which a militant killed on spot, " Bisnoi said.
The deceased militant was identified as Sijou and he was the Deputy Commanding Officer of 14th battalion of the outfit.
Police recovered one M-20 pistol, one magazine, 12 rounds live ammunition, two HE36 hand grenades, three mobile phone handsets in possession from him.
"The 33rd batch of NDFB(S) Myanmar trained cadre Sijou was involved in the killing of Sonitpur district Additional SP Gulzar Hussain in January last year. He also involved in killing of SI Narayan Barman in Kokrajhar, seven minority people killing in Balapara area and adivasi people massacre in Pakriguri area in Kokrajhar district last year, " the top police official said.
The Assam police has announced reward of Rs 5 lakh on him.
