Tri-National conference of India, Bangladesh and Myanmar held in Mizoram

Guwahati, Sept 21 (IBNS): Amidst fanfare and festive look ICFAI University, Mizoram has hosted "A Tri-National Conference of India, Bangladesh & Myanmar on Regional Cooperation through Mizoram" in collaboration with the Mizoram government on Sept 19.

The inauguration ceremony was adorned by the presence of Mizoram Governor Kummanam Rajasekharan and the Finance, Development, Judial and Taxation Minister of Mizoram Pu Lalsawta.

The concept note of the conference held two topics; (1) Trade, Investment, Infrastructure, Connectivity among Bangladesh India and Myanmar and (2) people to people connectivity: historical and cultural ties, diaspora, immigration, opportunities in higher education.

Dr. Shah Mohammad Tanvir Monsur, the Assistant High Commission of Bangladesh, represented Bangladesh at the occasion.

Tanvir elaborated the ongoing projects on connectivity between Bangladesh and the North East Region and explained several economic strategies for nurturing cross border trades required for sustainable expansion of the connectivity.

He particularly mentioned about the recently undertaken rail road project of Agartala-Akhaura and ongoing bus service from Dhaka to Shilong.

He told that connectivity and trades are interdependent and because of vicious cycle of the financing gap between these two factors, both the Governments India and Bangladesh have come forward to establish connectivity in all the possible modes.

In his address the Mizoram Governor mentioned the visionary role of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in prioritizing the neighborhood diplomacy.

He also applauded the recently taken projects on connectivity between India, Bangladesh and Myanmar.
