Kolkata, Oct 22 (IBNS): A nearly 20-year-old tribal youth along with his friend was arrested on Sunday for allegedly gang-raping his aunt and torturing her with an iron rod in Dhupguri's Niranjanpat village in northern West Bengal's Jalpaiguri district, reports said.

According to reports, the 35-year-old tribal woman alleged that she was abducted from her house on Saturday late evening by her nephew (brother-in-law's son).

The mother of three children claimed that she was gang-raped later at midnight at an isolated place beside Girandi river by her nephew and his two friends, and an iron rod was also inserted into her genitals.

A local villager rescued her in an unconscious state on Sunday morning and she was rushed to Dhupguri Rural Hospital.

Later, she was shifted to Jalpaiguri Sadar Hospital where she is currently undergoing treatment.

After beginning probe into the matter, police arrested two accused persons, including victim's nephew, from the village while another accused is still absconding.

State police's ADG (Law & Order) Anuj Sharma directed Birbhum district police to investigate the incident properly.

"I have instructed local police to take adequate actions immediately and to submit preliminary charge sheet within next three days," Anuj Sharma told IBNS.
