Agartala, July 23 (IBNS) : Border Security Force troopers allegedly shot dead a 25-year-old housewife at a border location in Tripura on Friday after she resisted rape, media reports said.

The incident occurred at Tarapukur in Sonamura, some 50km south of Agartala, Tripura's capital.

The woman belonged to the minority Muslim community.

The family of the victim lodged a complaint against two BSF personnel who allegedly shot dead the  housewife, Maya Khatun.

Tripura State Rifles personnel have been deployed in  the area after local residents took to the street protesting against the  the killing.
