Two Kuki Liberation Front (KLF) militants nabbed in East Karbi Anglong
Based on specific intelligence input, troops of Red Horns Division deployed in Karbi Anglong carried out a swift and surgical operation along with Assam Police to nab the militants including an area commander.
Security personnel recovered two pistols, ammunition and other war like stores in possession from them.
“The new Kuki outfit was recently raised and was involved in several extortion and illegal tax-collection activities in East Karbi Anglong. Initial inputs have indicated the underlying nexus of this group with several other terrorists outfits including NSCN(K),” a top army official said.
The top army official said that the precarious security situation in Karbi Anglong has been recently brought under control by relentless efforts of the Indian Army and all security agencies.
“It was revealed that activities of any new terrorist group including the recently formed People’s Democratic Council of Karbilongri (PDCK) under IK Songbijit is being closely monitored and all efforts are being put in to curb the rise of new militant outfits in the region. This operation has dealt of severe blow to the terrorist organisations and other nefarious anti-national activities in Karbi Anglong,” the army official said.
