Two NDFB(S) militants gunned down in Sonitpur

Guwahati, April 1 (IBNS): Security forces on Wednesday gunned down two hardcore militants belonging to NDFB(S) in Assam's Sonitpur district, officials said.

A Defence spokesman based in Guwahati said that, following a tip-off troops of Assam Rifles and police  jointly launched an operation at Lakhipathar area in the North Assam district on Wednesday morning.

"When security personnel reached the remote area the militants had started fire. Bullets were exchanged in which two militants were killed on the spot, " the defence spokesman said.

Security forces had recovered an AK-47 rifle, one magazine, ten rounds of fired cartridges, one Chinese hand grenade, five rounds of live 7.62mm ammunition from the slain militants.

The slain militants were identified as self styled deputy commander of the outfit group Sohiasula and self styled Sergeant major Ratan.
