Two ULFA-I militants nabbed in Assam’s Tinsukia

Guwahati, Aug 10 (IBNS): Security forces have apprehended two militants of banned outfit United Liberation Front of Asom – Independent (ULFA-I) in Assam’s Tinsukia district.

 

Based on a specific input from sources regarding presence of active ULFA (I) militants in general area of Mangoan Tekri in Tinsukia district  Army and Assam police had launched a joint operation.

During the operation, the security forces were successful in nabbing two militants of ULFA(I) along with two live Chinese made hand grenades.

The apprehended ULFA(I) militants were identified as self styled Corporal Polo Asom alias Rohit Kuli and Ridip Asom alias Pranab Jyok Baruah.

The nabbed insurgents along with recovered grenades were handed over to police for further investigations.

The operation is a part of the heightened levels of security ahead of Independence Day to counter the insurgent groups from disrupting peace in Upper Assam.
