ULFA(I) militants kill two Hindi speaking people in Upper Assa

Guwahati, July 15 (IBNS): Suspected militants belonging to United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) killed at least two hindi speaking people of a family in the oil rich Upper Assam's Tinsukia district on Tuesday night, police said on Wednesday.

In the militant attack, other three persons of the family were injured.

Police said that, the incident took place at a remote area- Bijulibon village- under Pengeri police station in the Upper Assam district around 8:30 pm on Tuesday.

The suspected ULFA(I) militants had called out the family of businessman Nandalal Shah and opened fire  resulting in the death of the businessman on the spot.

"The two militants fired with sophisticated weapons, " a top police official said.

Kajal Shah, daughter of the businessman, who was critically injured died on the way to nearest hospital.

Wife of the businessman and his two sons, who sustained bullet injuries in the militant attack were admitted at Assam Medical College Hospital in Dibrugarh.

"The militants attacked after the businessman failed to give the extortion money demanded by the outfit, " the police official said.
