New Delhi, May 6 (IBNS): Union Minister Babul Supriyo was injured in a road accident in New Delhi on Friday.

He has been admitted to  the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for treatment.

The singer-turned-politician was reportedly riding a bike when the mishap occurred.

“As soon as we climbed the flyover, a Toyota Innova car, which was in front of us applied brakes. The bike hit the car. We rushed him to the hospital. He has sustained injuries on his hand and chest. Contrary to some rumours, let me clarify that he was wearing a helmet,” one of Supriyo’s personal assistants was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

Supriyo's condition is said to be stable.

Union Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy said Supriyo was fine.

"Have just spoken to our colleague .@SuPriyoBabul, He is fine. Nothing to worry" Rudy tweeted.
