New Delhi/Raipur, March 13 (IBNS): Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has expressed his condolence to the families of those personnel who lost their lives in Sukma blast on Tuesday.

At least eight Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)  personnel were killed, and six others injured in an IED blast by Maoists  in the Kistaram area of Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district on Tuesday, media reports said.

According to reports, the condition of four of the six injured are critical.

The incident, that took place during a search operation, came days after ten ultras were killed in a gunfight with security forces along  Chhattisgarh-Telengana border on March 2.

Tweeted Rajnath Singh, "My heartfelt condolences to the families of those personnel who lost their lives in Sukma blast. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured jawans. I spoke to DG @crpfindia regarding the Sukma incident and asked him to leave for Chhattisgarh."

"Today’s IED blast in Sukma, Chhattisgarh is deeply distressing. I bow to each and every security personnel who attained martyrdom while serving the nation," he said in another tweet.

In April 2017,  25 CRPF jawans were killed and six injured in an ambush by Maoists in the Burkapal area of Sukma in one of the biggest massacres in recent times.
