Unnao survivor accident: CBI commences probe in Rae Bareli

Rae Bareli, Jul 31(UNI) Within 36 hours of recommendation of CBI probe into the conspiracy behind the accident of Unnao rape survivor, in which her two aunts were killed, while she and her lawyer were critically injured, the central investigating agency kickstarted it's probe, by visiting the accident spot on Wednesday.

A 12-member team of CBI, led by Ram Singh, Additional Superintendent of Police, CBI, ACB, Lucknow, reached here and immediately went to the spot for investigation.

The team members minutely checked the spot and the truck and the car and noted down important points, sources here said.

After their on-spot probe, the CBI team will now meet the driver and cleaner of the truck lodged at the district jail. The CBI team also talked to the investigating officers and other policemen, who reached the spot after the accident and took their statements.

UP government had recommended the CBI probe on late Monday night and on Tuesday, the Centre gave its nod for the probe.

Immediately on Tuesday night, CBI lodged an FIR against 10 people, including jailed BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, in the conspiracy behind the accident.

Those made accused in the conspiracy in the accident, include Kuldeep Singh Sengar, his brother Manoj Singh Sengar, Vinod Mishra, Hari Pal Singh, Navin Singh, Komal Singh, Arun Singh, Gyanendra Singh, Rinku Singh and Advocate Awadhesh Singh, besides 15-20 unknown others.

The seventh accused Arun Singh, is the son-in-law of UP minister Ranvendra Pratap Singh alias Dhunni Singh. He is presently the block pramukh of Nawabganj block.

Besides, Haripal and Rinku are the husband and son, respectively of the lone woman accused in the rape case, Sashi Singh.

Komal Singh is the friend of MLAs' brother Manoj Singh, Navin Singh is the close confident of the MLA, Gyanendra Singh is also a friend of the MLA, while advocate Awadhesh Singh is the lawyer of the legislator.

CBI registered a fresh FIR in the accident, after taking over the case from UP police.

The FIR was registered at CBI police station by SP Raghvendra Vatsa, under Sections 120B, 302, 307 and 506 of IPC against the BJP MLA and others. The cases were registered for criminal conspiracy, murder, attempt to murder and criminal intimidation.

The national investigative agency said that FIR has been registered on the basis of consent given by government of UP, for handing over investigation of FIR dated July 29, 2019, under Sections 302, 307, 506 and 120-B of IPC of PS Gurubaxganj, district Rae Bareli, according consent for conducting investigation by CBI.

A copy of FIR of the case, under Sections 302, 307, 506, 120-B of IPC of PS Gurubaxganj, district Rae Bareli is part of this CBI FIR, which is enclosed herewith. Hence, in pursuance of the aforesaid consent dated July 29, 2019 and notification dated July 30, 2019, a Regular Case is registered in CBI, ACB, Lucknow for investigation of case, under Sections 120-B, 302, 307, 506 of IPC, registered at PS Gurubaxganj, district Rae Bareli.

The investigation of this case is entrusted to Ram Singh, Additional, Superintendent of Police, CBI, ACB, Lucknow for investigation.
