UP: AAP to join hands with Ansari

New Delhi, Apr 11 (IBNS) Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) might join hands with don-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari in Uttar Pradesh for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, said reports on Friday.

"We need to remove the Congress and the BJP from the country. Else corruption will never end. And to achieve this, all forces must unite together and fight against them," said Kejriwal, hinting at a possible alliance with Ansari.

Ansari on Thursday announced that he will not contest the Lok Sabha polls against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and Kejirwal from the Varanasi constituency in Uttar Pradesh.

Ansari, who is currently lodged in Agra jail on charges of murdering a BJP MLA, conveyed the decision through his brother and national party president Afzal Ansari in Varanasi.

He was to fight the elections on Quami Ekta Dal's ticket.

Afzal Ansari reportedly said that the decision was taken avoid division of votes and to straighten secular forces.

Ansari has contested from Varanasi on a BSP ticket in 2009 elections against BJP's Murli Manohar Joshi.
