Bahraich, Nov 8 (UNI) Two policemen sustained critical injuries while they were chasing a motorcycle-borne man carrying a big plastic box in this district of Uttar Pradesh on Friday.

In view of the upcoming Ayodhya verdict, an intensive checking drive is being carried out by the police force.

Four policemen had been deployed from the Bahraich Police Line for security at a main entrance road to enter the border of Bahraich from Chaudhary Charan Singh Girija Barrage road Lakhimpur under the Sujauli area.

A bike-borne man was spotted coming in a suspicious state at 0800 hrs, this morning. The policemen tried to stop him but instead he went towards a jungle.

Two policemen--Sooraj Kumar Gaud and Ram Pravesh Paswan--started following him on a bike. While on their way, their motorcycle suddenly hit a tree in the jungle, critically injuring the duo.

Both the policemen have been admitted to a hospital in a critical state.
