Vice President condoles demise of legendary painter S.H. Raza
New Delhi, July 24 (IBNS): Vice President of India M. Hamid Ansari has condoled the death of legendary painter S.H. Raza.
In a message, he said that the legendary painter has popularised Indian concepts and iconography globally and a built a towering legacy of modern art.
“I am deeply grieved to hear about the demise of eminent painter Shri S H Raza. He popularised Indian concepts and iconography globally and built a towering legacy of modern art," said he.
"I join the nation in praying for eternal peace for the departed soul,” said Ansari.
Raza died in a New Delhi hospital on Saturday following a protracted illness. He was 94.
Raza was suffering from old-age related ailments.
He had been in the intensive care unit of a private hospital for the last two months.
A Padma Shri recipient, Raza was elected as fellow of the Lalit Kala Akademi in 1983.
