Vice President greets people on the eve of Onam

New Delhi, Sept 3 (IBNS): Vice President of India M. Venkaiah Naidu has greeted the people of India on the auspicious occasion of Onam.

In a message, he said that Onam, celebrated with traditional gaiety and enthusiasm, reflects the central role of agriculture in Indian society.

Onam celebrations spread over ten days across Kerala are marked by diverse activities, he added.

Following is the text of Vice President’s message:

“I extend my warm greetings and good wishes to the people of our country on the auspicious occasion of Onam.

Onam marks the beginning of the harvest season in various parts of our country. Celebrated with traditional gaiety and enthusiasm, Onam reflects the central role of agriculture in Indian society. Onam celebrations spread over ten days across Kerala are marked by diverse activities ranging from boat races, dance events to floral designs and martial arts competitions.

May the festival usher in peace, prosperity and happiness in our country.”
