WB: Woman allegedly gangraped, 2 arrested

Kolkata, Sept 10 (IBNS): One woman was allegedly gangraped at Deganga area in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district by two miscreants on Wednesday night, reports said.

According to reports, when the woman was returning home, two miscreants allegedly gangraped her near Jhikra Colony area under Deganga Police Station in North 24 Parganas.

Later, the woman was rescued by local people and rushed to Deganga Police station. After lodging complaint, two accused were arrested.

North 24 Parganas SP Tanmoy Roy Chowdhury told IBNS: "After receiving the complaint of gangrape, we have started investigation into the case. Two accused- Tarak Sardar and Shyamal Sardar have been arrested."

However, the woman is under treatment in Haroa Hospital. The arrested were produced in the Barasat Court on Thursday and sent to police custody for six days.
