WBIDC rubbishes report of tainted businessmen in Mamata's Singapore delegation

Kolkata, Aug 22 (IBNS) Amid criticism over inclusion of tainted people in a business delegation accompanying West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to Singapore, West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC) on Friday said three people as alleged in media are not part of the delegation that is currently touring with the CM.

"West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation has taken note of some wrong and mischievous reports being persistently broadcast/propagated by a section of media in Kolkata regarding the composition of the business delegation now in Singapore," read a media rejoinder.

"This is to put on record that the following persons are not part of the delegation and not connected to the delegation in any way: 1.    Mr R. S. Goenka 2.    Mr Rahul Todi  3.Mr Krishna Kant Kayal," it said.

While one of the above has been alleged as a coal mafia don in media by opposition parties, two others are top shots with the AMRI Hospitals in Dhakuria - a venture of the Emami and Shrachi groups- where a fire had killed 94 people in Dec 2011.

West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation said it condemned the wrong and mischievous attempts to connect the above-named persons to the delegation.

In a bid to attract more investments and partnerships, Banerjee commenced her first foreign trip as CM as she left for Singapore on Sunday last.

The opposition parties have criticisied Banerjee's foreign trip and ridiculed alleged inclusion of actors and tainted businessmen in the team.

Criticising Banerjee's visit to Sinagpore, West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee President Adhir Chowdhury told media: "Everything will end in  smoke..In a state where the Tata (Motors) had to leave, I strongly  doubt whether any other foreign investor will arrive here."

"Until the situation in the state becomes better till then it is nothing but a day dream to think that the situation for establishing industry will be better here,"  Communist Party of India(Marxist) leader Biman Bose told media.
