We are ready for Assembly polls: Lalu Prasad Yadav

Patna, Sept 9 (IBNS): Moments after the Election Commission announced the dates, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav on Wednesday said his party is ready for the Bihar Assembly polls.

"We are ready for the polls," Yadav told media.

He called the state Assembly polls as the 'country's election'.

"We are hopeful that we will be able to defeat the BJP in the polls," he said.

"The dates have been announced and now we will decide on seat sharing and other such issues," Yadav said.

The Election Commission on Wednesday announced schedule for the Bihar polls which will start from Oct 12.

Polling will be held in five phases.

Polling to elect new  243 Assembly Constituency will held on  Oct 12Oct 16Oct 28Nov 1 and Nov 5.

Counting of votes will be held on Nov 8.

Important Dates:

Poll dates: Oct.12, 16, 28, Nov.1 and 5.

Counting of votes: Nov 8.
