According to reports, railway sweepers discovered the bagged body while cleaning the rake at Mecheda EMU carshed at around 10:30 pm. and they had informed the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) officials posted in nearby Mecheda station.

"Our personnel recovered a nearly 35-year-old man's body, which was stuffed inside a red trolley bag, from 38313 Up Howra-Mecheda EMU train's compartment last night," a senior GRP official told IBNS.

"We are monitoring CCTV footage of all stations between Howrah and Mecheda to confirm from where and by whom the trolley bag was boarded the local train, the official said.

"We have found multiple injury marks on the body which indicate the youth may have been murdered and his there was an attempt to traffic the body," he added.
