Dhaka, Feb 21 (IBNS): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday met Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina here.

"Today I had the privilege to call upon, the Honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina ji who is my favourite didi," Banerjee tweeted.

"Her warmth and grace made me emotional. The visit was constructive, positive and may I say, historic!" she said.

Banerjee said she has invited Hasina to visit her state.

"I invited Honorable Prime Minister to visit West Bengal," Banerjee said.

According to reports, Banerjee has assured Hasina of a breakthrough on the Teesta water sharing deal.

"Mamata Banerjee, who proved spoilsport four years ago to block the India-Bangladesh Teesta water sharing deal, has reassured Sheikh Hasina of a breakthrough on the knotty bilateral issue," bdnews24.com reported.

"The West Bengal chief minister also told the Bangladesh prime minister on Saturday that the bill for implementing the Land Boundary Agreement between the two countries is likely to go through the next session of the Rajya Sabha (Upper House) of the Indian parliament starting end of this month," it said.
