| @indiablooms | Dec 14, 2022, at 07:07 pm

Bolpur/UNI: The Visva Bharati University is in turmoil again at midnight due to the conflict of students with the authorities.

The security guards of Visva Bharati broke the stage set up by the students in front of the Vice-Chancellor's residence.

The students complained that Visva Bharati security personnel beat them up. Visva Bharati University has been in turmoil for several days due to student protests.

Several students had been protesting for 20 days in front of Visva Bharati's vice-chancellor Bidyut Chakraborty's residence. Their demand was the resignation of Vice-Chancellor of Visva Bharati Vidyut Chakraborty.

On Tuesday, the campus erupted in turmoil over their ouster from the vice-chancellor's residence. The students were allegedly beaten up by security guards.

Allegedly, at midnight, Visva Bharati security guards demolished the stage set up by the students of Visva Bharati. It is also alleged that protesting students were beaten up. Allegedly suddenly in the middle of the night, Visva Bharati security personnel went and vandalized their stand.

Ashok Mahato, acting registrar of Visva Bharati, claimed that bricks and stones were being thrown at the houses of professors of Visva Bharati at night. That is why Visva Bharati's security personnel broke the stage at midnight. And he claimed that several boulder bricks were also recovered from there. All in all, Visva Bharati is tense.

Visva Bharati was once again rocked by student protests last week.

The students went to meet Vice-Chancellor Bidyut Chakraborty with multiple demands. But the vice-chancellor allegedly ordered his security guards to open fire at that time.

Allegedly, the Vice-Chancellor ordered his personal security guards to fire at the students.

As soon as this news broke, excitement spread in the campus. The campus became heated. The protest started by surrounding the vice chancellor.

The students clashed with the security guards. A professor also had to face the shock due to the protest of several students.

Opposition leader of the state assembly Suvendu Adhikari said, "Prof. Bidyut Chakraborty Vice Chancellor, Visva Bharati University has been attacked by TMC goons as he tried to step out of his residence after more than 2 weeks.

"He got hurt as the goons pelted stones and even threw chairs towards him. All in the presence of the OC Shantiniketan."

"The WB Govt has failed to provide protection to the Vice Chancellor of such a reputed & world renowned Educational Institution. Or they didn't even intend to? Is this the "Egiye Bangla" Model?

"The State Government is fuelling anarchy & sheltering the anarchists. @PMOIndia," Adhikari tweeted.
