Why lockdown not used to prepare for surge in Covid-19 cases, Omar Abdullah asks Delhi govt

Srinagar/UNI: Taking a dig at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has asked why the lockdown was utilised to curb the surge in Covid-19 cases in Delhi.

Taking to micro-blogging site twitter, the vice-president of the J&K National Conference (NC) Omar said, "Which begs the question - what was the lockdown being used for if not to prepare for a surge in cases (as was predicted) or did the Delhi government also buy the propaganda that the lockdown itself was the cure for Corona?"

He was reacting to a news report that the Delhi government plans to add 20,000 beds in the city in the next one week, beds to be arranged at hotels, banquet halls.
